Day 3: ‘Do The Wave’ Flow
Get ready to go with the flow!
Our bodies are mostly water, and there are no straight lines in it. Your blood flows, your bones are spirals, your muscles wild like rivers that interweave through your whole body to create a holistic conversation of power, and freedom.
Whatever your goals are here on this journey with me—physical strength and flexibility, more energy and courage, increased clarity and focus, heightened vitality and longevity—or all of the above—you will get it more quickly and easily if you do one thing:
Do The Wave.
In yoga, which is really moving your body mindfully, the best thing you can do is to get back into alignment with the way your body actually wants to play with the earth and gravity, and to know the way your bones and joints do—and don’t—move.
We started this lesson on Day 1, and you discovered how to first soften & bend, then root down to rise up though the core in a specific order.
This motion will directly activate your Deep Core Line of muscles, and free the usually too-tight outer body from having to do all the work. It’s not built to do that anyway.
Doing The Wave lets your Core Body lead!
At first, trying to learn the 4 Foundations can cause you to be more choppy, as you focus on mastering each part—and that’s fine. Return to slowing it down whenever you want (remember —you can always press pause on the videos anytime you’d like to repeat some poses until you want to move on).
Today we progress into uniting these parts and pieces together into a more fluid movement.
You’ll notice that when you bend and surrender, then ground down, move up through your front pelvis and front low back spine, then express into the pose, you create a flowing motion that I call The Wave.
We do the Wave as you come into every pose—and sometimes between them to to prepare for movement.
As I move you through this practice today, be aware of when I’m moving you, and how often we do the Wave.
Above all, feel into this more than think about it. Like removing a dam and allowing the water to flow freely…your body intuitively knows what do to if you let it.
