Day 13: The Moonwalk Flow
This is how to harness your moon power!
Main Points for Today:
The sun is awesome, obviously.
But the moon is just as incredible. It moves oceans and tides—and even the rhythms of women all over the world!
In yoga, the moon, or Chandra, represents your ability to move inward, to reflect, self-center and nourish yourself with goodness, from delicious food to great friends to abundance in all forms.
Today, we access the power of your obliques, psoas and quadratus lumborum, or QL, to help you sidebend, which will make a half moon shape of your spine. This is one of the main movements your spine is capable of, yet it’s a more rare movement than bending forward or twisting, things you tend to do often in daily life.
Sidebends can release long-held tension along your core, especially the spine, waist, hips and ribs areas. When you add them to your regular routine, you’ll relieve lower back pain, which can happen easily if you hike your side hip up toward your side ribs, even a little. This can cause a tightening and compression in your spine and sacrum.
So—align with the magic of the moon today. We will flow a bit more since you should be getting more confident in many of these poses by now, and practice a balance of opening and strengthening, to mirror the moon’s fullness and darkness each month.
