Day 12: The Green Ritual
Restoring Ritual: The Heart Opening Green Ritual
Main Points for Today:
To prepare you from moving with and from your foundations and your core into the chest and heart area, I want to guide you through a heart-clearing technique.
This ritual and breath is super helpful for all seasons of the heart: the summer: already open wide and happy, or the winter: closed tight in pain or anxiety, or somewhere in-between (the spring and fall where most of us normally live).
This will be a tool you can keep around whenever you want to align with the two main polar opposite energies that are mirrored by the anatomy of the heart muscle: it contracts and relaxes, and these actions both give to you (nourish you with blood and oxygen), and give away from you what doesn’t heal you (assists in moving toxins and waste out of your body).
The heart ‘center’, or the Fourth Chakra, as the yogis and other philosophies refer to it, isn’t just the actual heart, but the whole chest, including the front, sides, back and center, as if you have a sun in the center of your chest and its light is radiating out from it.
In fact—you do have this sun. It’s called your cardiac plexus, and it’s a bright nest of nerves that lie at the base of the heart, like a bonfire, lighting it up from beneath—so no matter who else has hurt you, you know you can always keep it lit—because this fire is your birthright.
Yogis also call this area “anahata”, or the ‘un-struck place’, because the wiser amongst us have learned that your ability to love yourself and others doesn’t actually go away when other people act unskilled toward you, or you perceive that you’ve had a loss. In fact, they say, you just momentarily believe that all is lost—but you can always seek and find the beauty and purpose and grace within any tragic experience.
Today, let’s call in your own natural ability to access your states of love and compassion. Self-forgiveness and proper boundaries, at will. Let’s NOT let ignorant people, or fear win.
I’ll help you to deepen this ritual’s effectiveness with a Heart-Opening Breath and the mantra YAM you can use anytime you want to bust fear—and reclaim that lovin’ feeling you deserve to bask in.
Go find some green stones or items and meet me back on the mat!
